Annual Autumn Academy, 11-14 October 2021
Between 11 and 14 October, the 3rd FEPS Annual Autumn Academy will be taking place, engaging 200 enthusiastic progressives in a carefully crafted hybrid programme.
With participants in Brussels - spread between hospitable FEPS and PES premises -, as also many others connected via the interactive online platform, the event is shaping to be not only the largest, but also the most innovative so far.
The four days devoted to “Defending and deepening democracy” will feature of course some traditional and popular elements known from the previous editions (such as debates, thematic workshops, country case studies, visits to the sister organisations and EU institutions, progressive quiz), but much space will be taken by the new formats (including lectures, launch of the first ever FEPS Primers, special guests appearances, masterclasses, videos recorder for this occasions by fighters for democracy from the past and those of today, a competition “Progressives have great ideas!”, a workshop “Democracy and me: a love letter”, a progressive treasure hunt and many, many others).
Having one overarching and topic-focused title is actually also among the innovations, creating a thread for debates on such hot issues as the EU and the Rule of Law; Democratising Digital; and the Conference on the Future of Europe.
To that end, it remains the ambition of FEPS, the partners and all the invited speakers and trainers (of whom full list you can find by checking the programme), that this year’s alumni upon reception of the end of the course certificate – will be leaving the event thinking about the 3rd FEPS AAA as an amazing experience, that equipped them with ideas, knowledge, skills and networks. And that it was unique, interactive and simply unforgettable!
The event is a closed one, involving – next to speakers and trainers – young politicians described by the nominating them FEPS Member Foundations as “the most promising”. The debates will be taking place accordingly to the Chatham House Rules. Nevertheless, if you wanted to know more, don’t forget to check our website for the updates after 15.10.2021 – since we expect to be able to share a summary, some audiovisual materials and the final declaration (written by the FEPS AAA Drafting Committee).
