The Changing Role of the State: What Does it Mean for Europe?

Online conference, Friday 23 April, 16:45 - 18:00

The 15th International Karl Polanyi Conference 'The Role of the State in the post-COVID 21st Century' organized by the Karl Polanyi Institute of Political Economy, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in partnership with the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) will take place online on 21-24 April 2021. On this occasion, we aim at fostering discussions on the current consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and how governments around the world, international organizations and social movements are responding to the crisis and what this may mean for the future.

FEPS will be hosting the panel on “The changing role of the State: What does it mean for Europe?” on Friday 23 April at 16:45 (CET). Dr Albena Azmanova from the University of Kent and author of “Capitalism on Edge”, David Mair, Head of Unit: Knowledge for Policy and Dr Laszlo Andor, FEPS Secretary-General will reflect on the new legitimacy of public-led actions can translate into a new paradigm.
