After great debates in Sofia, London, Barcelona and Berlin, the following “Next Left” Round Table will take place in Dublin, where it will be organized with the support of TASC. FEPS Next Left Focus group will be represented by its Chair, Dr Alfred Gusenbauer, former Chancellor of Austria.
This international conference of FEPS - the first to be organised with the support of its Portuguese member, the Fundação ResPublica - will focus on the challenges for social democrats to strengthen the economy and to put again the financial markets into its service.
Following their successful first meeting, the FEPS Young Academics Network will gather again for a session, organised with the support of the Renner Institute, which will take place in Vienna, Austria from 9th to 11th July 2010. The programme will include plenary and groups’ working sessions, both being prepared by FEPS together with the Network’s members.

On 8th June 2010 FEPS with the support of Renner Institute is inviting the members of the "Next Left" focus group, as well as its member foundations, to submit the articles and to participate in the second session of the “Next Left” Focus Group meeting that under the theme “Our values in a changing world”. The meeting will take place in Brussels on 8th June 2010 and will be chaired by Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, former Chancellor of Austria. The objective of the meeting is to jointly reflect on what are the principle values of the contemporary social democracy, what is their meaning nowadays and how they do and should translate into policy agenda(s).
This round of the FEPS series of Next Left roundtables asks “What is next?” and encompasses key elements from an analysis of the national contexts of the crisis to a definition of the values of social democrats for the development of a renewed policy agenda. Such a seminar must necessarily involve the identification of organisational challenges for social democratic parties and finding innovative ways for communicating the message of social democracy.
A series of training seminars with the support of the Fondazione Socialismo (Italy) to support European awareness, to offer a better knowledge of the various aspects of the European political scene and life and to bring a European agenda at the attention of a selected number of local leaders and activists in three main Italian cities.
