Employment in the Irish hospitality sector: A preliminary background report

This report summarises publicly available material on jobs, employment and working conditions in the Irish hospitality sector. It provides an overview of the structure of the sector and of employment. It also describes employment regulations and collective representation and identifies the key elements of working conditions in the sector: working time, wages, non-standard employment, skills and career development, job security and finally job autonomy. The final section highlights issues for the fieldwork research with some reference to international research.
